Description:
I specialise in Property Law specifically in Property Disputes between Landlords and Tenants. A big part of my business is also Conveyancing, which in short means the transfer of Immovable Property.
Responsibilities:
- Drafting Letters of Demand.
- Drafting Eviction Applications.
- Appearances in Court.
- Drafting and Preparing Title Deeds and Mortgage Bonds.
Pros:
- Being able to assist clients with their property disputes whether it be putting Landlords to terms who act illegally against their tenants.
- Acting on behalf of landlords who need assistance with the drafting of their Lease Agreements and the Eviction of tenants who occupy their property unlawfully.
- Conveyancing – Being able to transfer ownership of immovable property for first time home owners, assisting estate agents with the drafting of their Deeds of Sales as well as providing advice and training regarding general property law. The payment received for Conveyancing is very rewarding.
Cons:
- For Eviction Applications it is often tedious to draft all of the documentation and the client becomes reluctant to pay because he/she is most likely already struggling to obtain payment from their tenants.
- With regards to Conveyancing, you are largely dependent on Estate Agents to make their sales. This is not always guaranteed.
Education:
- LL.B Law Degree.
- 2 years Articles at a law firm in order to be admitted as Attorney of the High Court.
- Conveyancing – Passing a specialised Examination.
Professional Body:
LPC (Legal Practice Council).
